Dear Parents,
Thank you for your interest in Good Shepherd Lutheran School. Our half-day Christ-based program was established in 1981 as a ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. We welcome all children ages 2½ to 5! Our nurturing, experienced staff celebrates each child individually, focusing on the development of the whole child through learning and play. Children are welcome to enroll in our program throughout the school year, class size permitting. We warmly invite you to call to hear more about our program, or to schedule a personal meeting and tour of our school.
Please see our Class Offerings & Rates sheet and an Application for Enrollment for 2012-2013. Younger or multiple siblings receive a 20% tuition discount. Children registered in more than one class also receive a 20% tuition discount for the second class. To register for the 2012-2013 school year, please fill out the Application for Enrollment form and submit it with a check for the one-time $85 Registration fee, the noted one-time Activity Fee, plus September’s tuition fee. The Registration fee is non-refundable; the Activity Fee and September’s tuition fee are refundable until May 1, 2012. Our Registration fee covers expenses including field trips, in-house programs, and the monthly subscription to “Happy Times” magazine. Children new to our program also receive a school shirt and may choose a new school bag at the September School Visit.
When you submit your Application, you will be notified at that time of your child’s class placement. You will also be given a Virginia Health Form that must be completed and signed by you (page 1) and by your child’s physician (pages 2, 3, and 4). If your child requires an EPI-Pen at school, a medication authorization form must also be submitted. We will need your child’s health form by Wednesday, August 29th to attend their first day of class in September. You will also need to present your child’s original birth certificate (or passport) for identification. The Health Form and the identification document are required by Virginia law.
Once your child is registered in a class, you will receive a mailing in mid-August that includes information about the first few weeks of school. The Friday before school starts (September 7th), you and your child will be invited to visit their classroom to meet the teachers, classmates, and other school families. The May (last month’s) tuition payment will be due by Wednesday, August 29, 2012. All other tuition payments will be due on the first day of the month (Oct-April). Financial aid scholarships may be available to qualifying families. Please feel free to speak privately with the Director.
We enjoy sharing information about our program, and appreciate the opportunity to answer any questions families may have. If you would like to discuss your child’s needs, or if we can assist you in any way in the Registration process, please feel free to call the school office (703) 437-4511.
God’s Blessings,
Susie Hardwick
Director
