Life Groups

What is a Life Group?

Life Groups are small groups of people who gather to “live” together and do the natural things that Christian families and communities do: Christian fellowship; prayer; reflection on the Word; caring for one another; providing encouragement; taking part in activities and service together; and the list goes on.

Wouldn’t it be great if everyone at Good Shepherd was “tended to” in a smaller aspect of church in which personal care, intimate sharing, and growth in Christ could happen, regularly?

Wouldn’t it be great if those who have fallen away from the church could be reawakened by the care found in group life?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see more of our Good Shepherd people tending the Shepherd’s flock in the community, befriending neighbors and the unchurched, and inviting them to the care, love, activity, fun, and encouragement of a small community, in Christ?

Wouldn’t it be a blessing if those who take part in the life of a small community (Life Group) eventually join in the life of the larger Good Shepherd community?

You'll find descriptions of our various Life Groups below. Many continue to meet, via online platforms, though some have found ways to gather in person, outdoors.

Transitions Life Groups
All of us in the second half of life experience many transitions—sometimes all at once—and this can be joyous, overwhelming, or at least challenging! Empty nests, retirement or preparing for retirement, caring for or losing elderly parents or others, interacting with adult children, estate planning, living locations and situations, and aging are just some of the sources of transitions we may face. This group will be a place for us to share information, support, friendship, and faith during this important time in our lives. We will also plan some service projects together. Women, men, singles, and couples are all welcome.
When: Day and time various
Lead: Myra Niemeier

Word Workers Life Group
Word Workers is a group of men and women who are committed to sharing the ups and downs of the spiritual journey. Our sessions include discussions of what the Lord has been doing in our lives, and Bible study. We also enjoy serving together as ministry opportunities arise. We are delighted to welcome new members to our group.
When: second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from 7:30 to 9:00 PM
Lead: Melinda Dewan

Women's Thursday Morning Bible Study
A fun, intergenerational women's Bible study. Besides studying God's holy scripture, we also serve our community through various service projects. No homework required. All are welcome!
