Congregational Meeting on May 2

Posted by Board of Servant Leaders on April 18, 2021

Dear members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church,

Since the fall of 2020, Good Shepherd has been blessed with the assistance that Pastor Gary James has provided in leading indoor services, virtual services, and adult Sunday School, among other things. Pastor Johann has truly valued and appreciated Pastor James’s assistance in all these areas.

Pastor James is officially associated with Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church in Ashburn. Pastor Johann would like Pastor James to be officially associated with Good Shepherd as a called Specific Ministry Pastor. There would be no change in Pastor James’s duties and compensation here at Good Shepherd. Pastor James and his wife, Jill, would become members of Good Shepherd.

Pastor Johann presented this recommendation to the Board of Servant Leaders. The Board approved this call at its March 18 meeting; and on April 15, the Board moved to convene a Congregational Meeting to present a recommendation to call Pastor Gary James as our Specific Ministry Pastor.

The Congregational Meeting to consider this call will be held on Sunday, May 2, at 1 p.m. The meeting will be held on a videoconference platform. You must register in order to receive a link to attend the meeting. To allow time for participants to receive links to the meeting before 1 p.m., the registration for the meeting will close at noon on Sunday, May 2.

The Board is excited to present this recommendation, and we hope that many of you will be able to participate in the meeting. If you have any questions regarding this action, please feel free to reach out to any member of the Board of Servant Leaders. Time will also be allotted for any comments during the meeting.

NOTE: This meeting will be recorded.
