Open Nomination Period for BoSL 2022 Elections - Now Underway!

Posted by Board of Servant Leaders on April 04, 2022

Dear GSLC Members,

Five members of Good Shepherd have agreed to be candidates for three openings on the Board of Servant Leaders. The candidates are Allen Ellison, Robert Fekete, Paul Kasulis, Goodwyn Morgan, and Linda Terlecki. Attached below are the bios and statements for the candidates.

Allen Ellison

After 32 years of government service in the US Navy and with the FAA, TSA, and FBI, Allen retired in 2021. He recently returned to the FBI as a contractor facilitating the FBI’s outreach with Chief Security Officers at Fortune 1000 companies who are members of the FBI’s Domestic Security Alliance Council. Together with his wife, Jeanne Gambrell, he has been a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since 2004. His congregational service includes participating in three VBS sessions, greeting, helping in the kitchen, and volunteering otherwise sporadically. He was baptized and confirmed as a Lutheran in Dallas, Texas, in 1990. Allen states he would find serving on the BoSL an honor and a wonderful opportunity to help support Good Shepherd’s mission and goals, while also growing in his spiritual journey. He has a Master of Arts in Government from Johns Hopkins University.

Robert Fekete

Rob and his family have been a members of Good Shepherd since 2010 when they moved to Herndon. He is currently working for a federal contractor supporting the DoD and other agencies.  He is married to Linda and they have two adult children: Robert (33) and Alex (30). While he doesn’t have prior leadership/board experience in a church, he did spend several years on the Board of Directors of the American International School of Budapest. During his time on the board the school moved to a new facility.

The most important part of his faith is the knowledge that there is nothing that he can do to earn the love of God as it is a gift, paid through the death and bodily resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. He believes that each must personally ask for this gift, and is done by inviting Jesus Christ to be Lord in one’s life.

Paul Kasulis

Paul is thankful for the 20+ years of spiritual and personal support he enjoys from my Good Shepherd Lutheran Church family. His direct support to GSLC includes teaching adult Sunday School, prior service on both the Board of Servant Leaders (2017-18) and the Finance Committee. He brings an attitude of gratitude, praying for what he needs rather than what he deserves, and finding ways to say yes when called.

Each of us is called to be a worker in the mission to share the love of Jesus Christ with all people. Paul is eager to support that mission as a member of the Board of Servant Leaders as we continue to evolve in the ways and places, we deploy resources. This must be accomplished while tending to our existing church family. He hopes to expand the cross-section of members actively involved in seizing the opportunities and challenges God places before us.  With Him all things are possible.

Goodwyn Morgan

Goodwyn and his wife, Jan, have three grown sons and three wonderful daughters-in-law as well as 4 terrific grandchildren. He is retired now, having worked 35 years for multi-national food companies (human & pet) in production, product research, and management. Although not Lutheran by upbringing, Goodwyn found GSLC to be very open and welcoming with a strong expression of faith and service. He quickly felt at home and has been a member of GSLC for over 6 years. Goodwyn regularly serves as usher for the 11 AM service and other services as needed and participates in the various GSLC Bible study opportunities. Additionally, he assists with Sunday kitchen clean-up and the GSLC road cleanup project. He organized a CPR/First Aid course for ushers and interested congregants and will do so again when conditions permit.

He believes the opportunity exists today for continued growth of faith and fellowship within our own congregation and for expansion of this faith within local and distant communities. It is to help GSLC facilitate and grow these opportunities that he seeks to be on the Board of Servant Leaders.

Linda Terlecki

Linda lives with her husband, Randy, in Reston and is blessed with three grown children and two grandchildren. After selling their farm and moving to Reston, they transferred membership to Good Shepherd in September of 2019. What a blessing joining GSLC turned out to be! Linda has enjoyed and been enriched by the worship services and sermons; Bible studies; women's retreat; Advent tea; and most of all the friendships. During the pandemic, the GSLC online services and zoom Bible studies were a lifeline to her and family members. In the past at other congregations, Linda served as worship and music counsel chair, vacation Bible school leader, a choir member, with youth ministry, parenting ministry and as a teacher in Bible Study Fellowship International. Prior to her retirement last April, Linda had a fruitful and rich career in information technology, closing that chapter as an executive at the Internal Revenue Service. After prayerful consideration, Linda would be honored to serve the Lord and Good Shepherd as a member of the Board of Servant Leaders.
