Return-to-Campus Survey Summary

Posted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on

Two hundred Good Shepherd members and friends responded to the Return-to-Campus Survey, and we thank you for providing us with valuable, actionable feedback. In addition to answering the single/multiple choice questions, many also shared comments with expressions of support as well as suggestions for virtual, drive-in, and in-person services. Taken together, the information and comments are being used to inform and validate GSLC’s plans for ministry during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As might be expected from a diverse composition of individual members and families of all age groups, there were differing preferences for in-person worship. Some respondents indicated they are ready to attend immediately with no protective health measures; others are planning to wait until there is an effective vaccine and treatment for COVID-19. A significant majority, however, responded that they would be willing to attend an in-person service with appropriate protective health measures, such as wearing masks and limiting the number of people, to enable social distancing. A majority also indicated interest in attending a drive-in communion and/or worship service. Finally, a reasonable number of people indicated an interest in using the downstairs chapel for personal reflection and devotion. As a result, virtual, in-person, drive-in, and chapel access are being incorporated into GSLC’s plans.

Many people said they would be willing to volunteer for various duties that are needed to support in-person worship services. Thanks for your willing spirit and able hands. The staff will contact potential volunteers as plans are finalized and specific service needs are identified.

The survey also showed that many people are interested in connecting with other members in both virtual and in-person forums. This information will be used to create more opportunities for people to participate in groups for Bible study, Life Groups, Christian support, and social interests.

Thank you to everyone for your participation and thoughtful counsel as we seek to know God’s plan for GSLC during these difficult times.
