We love kids! And we want children of all ages to know God, to serve Him, and to share His love with others. We want to introduce kids to Jesus and encourage them to become lifelong followers of Him. We want children to know the joy of a friendship with Christ and how to live a life that reflects that relationship.
Good Shepherd's kids' ministry believes that ...
God has a special place in His heart for kids. “Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.’” — Luke 18:16
The Bible is the primary source for learning about God's love and His will for our lives. “You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” — 2 Timothy 3:15–17
Parents must be the primary nurturer and influence on their kids’ faith. “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. Commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” — Deuteronomy 6:5–7
Leaders, teachers and volunteers must model an active, healthy, and committed relationship with Christ for our kids to see. “Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” — 1 Timothy 4:12
Our kids' ministry uses a variety of teaching methods that are designed to engage children (ages 2 through 6th grade) in active learning that will lead to an understanding of God, His Word, and its message of grace, love, and hope. The primary venues where this message is communicated to our kids are in worship, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. We invite you to email the Church office for more information.
