Prayers for Those Facing Hurricane, Wildfires

Posted by Pastor Jotham Johann on August 26, 2020

Flock of Good Shepherd, please pray with me to our loving God:

Loving Lord, have mercy among the people on the Gulf Coast, especially in Louisiana and Texas, including our extended families and friends as well as those who worship with us virtually. Be present with them during their evacuations. Protect them. Provide them shelter in the midst of what the meteorologists are calling the "unsurvivable" Category 4 hurricane, seemingly the size of the whole Gulf of Mexico. Spare their lives, bodies, livelihoods, and property.

Merciful Lord, strengthen and protect the people in the West, who are encountering the fierce and out-of-control wildfires. Protect them from the conflagrations and smoke, especially in these times of the virus, making it all the more difficult to breathe. Be with our virtual worship participants, and extended families and friends out West.

May your ministry through this Good Shepherd congregation bring comfort and hope among them, especially in these pandemic times and in the midst of these storms. In the powerful, protective, and provision-filled name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

P.S. You and I have come to see that our ministry is no longer just here in the Washington, DC, area. When these storms of water, wind, and fire, pestilences, and crises break out in the South, Midwest, North, or West, they are now very personal to us. We pray...
