Firm Footing

Posted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on February 16, 2025

In movies, television, and daily life we hear the phrase “follow your heart” as the answer to perplexing and difficult situations. Join us today as Pastor Johann delves into today’s Gospel text, exploring the risks of following one's heart, highlighting that the human heart is deceitful and wicked. Contrasting those who trust in human strength with those who trust in God, likening the former to a barren shrub and the latter to a fruitful tree by water. It is important to seek God's guidance, to rely on the support of the church community, and trust in God's plan rather than one's own or worldly wisdom. The Christian walk does not rely on human strength; instead, it involves prayer, scripture, and fellowship, staying grounded in faith to navigate life's challenges.
