Running to You

Posted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on March 30, 2025

Join us today as Pastor Johann discusses the parable of the prodigal son. Where he emphasizes God's unconditional love and passion for reconciliation. It depicts a father eagerly awaiting his lost son's return, exemplifying God's readiness to welcome us back despite past mistakes. Jesus tells this story to challenge religious leaders critical of his association with sinners, showing God's celebration when lost individuals repent and return to Him.

The younger son, after squandering his inheritance and hitting rock bottom, returns home in desperation. Rather than punishing or rejecting him, the father restores him with honor and joy, emphasizing the value of relationships over societal judgments. Meanwhile, the elder son's resentment highlights the human struggle with forgiveness and fairness, urging us to embrace reconciliation with open arms.

This story mirrors our personal journeys—moments of distance, regret, and eventual return. It inspires self-reflection, growth, and trust in God's mercy. Through the father’s actions, we see a picture of divine grace, illustrating that restoration is always possible when we turn back to the Lord.
