Shrewd Stewardship

Posted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on September 17, 2025

In today’s gospel Jesus urges His disciples to adopt an eternal perspective, using parables—especially those involving money—to teach spiritual truths and stewardship. He emphasizes that how one uses earthly wealth reflects their urgency for eternal matters, encouraging believers to be strategic and intentional with their resources. Jesus teaches that even worldly currency can be leveraged to build eternal relationships, and that faithfulness in small things leads to trust with greater spiritual riches. He warns against serving money over God, highlighting that devotion to wealth can distort one’s priorities, while wise use of money can glorify God. Ultimately, Jesus challenges His followers to be shrewd, generous, and mission-minded, using all they have to advance the gospel and invest in eternity.
