The Only Thing

Today’s gospel text often troubles those who value hospitality, as Jesus seems to favor Mary’s choice to sit at his feet and absorb his words over Martha’s busy service. Join Pastor James as he reminds us that our worth is not in our actions, but in being loved by God. God’s Word reveals that the “one thing needed” – hearing and embracing God’s word – grounds us, nurtures our faith, and equips us to live out our calling. We are all encouraged to ensure that God’s word remains central and that our time listening to the Word empowers us to serve others.
