We're Blessed!

Posted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on February 01, 2026

True blessedness isn't a reward you earn—it's an inherent gift you already possess from creation, regardless of circumstances or beliefs. The pastor challenges the common misconception that being "blessed" means having good health, wealth, or success, revealing instead that blessedness is universal and unconditional. The Beatitudes aren't prerequisites for blessing but rather natural expressions of those who recognize and live from their already-blessed state. When we truly know ourselves to be blessed, we live authentically without needing to prove ourselves, compete with others, or seek approval—and the beatitudes flow naturally from this awareness. A humble Hmong boy in Thailand taught the pastor this lesson by selflessly sharing bread, embodying the blessed life not through grand gestures but through simple, authentic generosity rooted in knowing his own worth.
