What Really Matters

Posted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on October 04, 2026

Pastor James uses Jesus’ parable of the wicked tenants to highlight what truly matters in the Christian faith. Like people who selfishly cling to God’s gifts, the tenants wrongly claim ownership of the vineyard and reject the landowner’s authority, revealing humanity’s resistance to repentance and dependence on God’s grace. Yet God responds to the rejection and death of His Son not with condemnation, but with forgiveness and salvation through the cross. The cross exposes the seriousness of sin while revealing the depth of God’s love. Ultimately, the message calls Christians to value Christ’s self-giving love above worldly pursuits and to live with repentance, gratitude, transformation, and faithful obedience.
