Wine Joy

In today’s Gospel Jesus addresses the problem of a wedding party in Cana running out of wine. While this might not sound like a big deal, or not something for the Messiah to handle, it was problematic in the days of Jesus. Running out of wine was a major cultural issue, often considered a sign of disrespect. Mary gave Jesus a little push to get going in the right direction and perform his first miracle. This miracle, and others, were “signs” from Jesus revealing God’s glory. Join us today as Pastor Johann discusses how Jesus’ first sign with wine symbolizes experiencing joy. Life in this world is both pain and joy, while life in the world to come will be filled with undiminished joy, love, and light. Have you run out of wine in your life? Do what Jesus tells us to do. Go back to the basics – the gospel of sharing, the gospel of forgiveness, the gospel of serving others, and the gospel of trusting that God is with you. The water into wine sign is a revelation of God’s essence, he is the God of abundant love and grace and will give us what we need.
