Serve

Congregational Care

The Congregational Care and Nurture Team (CC&N), comprised of more than sixty-six volunteers, has helped support the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health of the congregation through devotional literature and opportunities to serve others at Good Shepherd. This ministry supports memorial services and organizes memorial receptions, member care visits, and transportation.  Portals of Prayer and various care ministry pamphlets, found in the narthex (church entryway) and admin wing foyer, are part of the CC&N budget; so is Taking Faith Home, the weekly handout inserted in the worship bulletins. Volunteers send more than 700 greeting cards for life events annually plus mementos for Baptisms.  The Take Them A Meal team (Caroline Ruppar, lead) brings/sends meals to the ill, infirm, and their families, as well as families with newborn babies.  Teams meet weekly to pray for those in need.  The CC&N maintains rosters of those willing to help in all the above.

In 2024, the Ministry added several programs/events:  Hikes, walks, (Jeannie Johns, Hikes & Walks lead), Dementia Care classes, and Red Cross certification CPR/AED classes.  Additional programs are being explored for the future.
