The Good Shepherd: A Pet Sermon

Posted by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on April 26, 2026

Like thieves and robbers who jump the fence to steal and scatter the flock, false teachers today, lurk everywhere: social media algorithms designed to addict, worldly competitions stealing our Sabbath, families abandoning biblical authority, and endless smut trapping us in our weaknesses. These enemies of our souls—Satan, the corrupt world, and our sinful flesh—wage relentless war to lead us away from Christ and into spiritual death. Yet here is the glorious truth that shatters the darkness: Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly; not a mediocre existence barely hanging on, but a lush meadow of meaning, purpose, joy, and fulfillment that stretches as far as the eye can see. Therefore, hear His voice calling you by name; follow your Good Shepherd through the gate, and glory in the inexplicable, deep-seated joy of being fully human, fully alive, fully restored to fellowship with God, even as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
