Whose Job Is It?

Join us today as Pastor James reflects on Jesus’ parable of the wheat and the weeds in Matthew chapter 13, emphasizing that judging another person’s heart or spiritual condition is not our responsibility. Because weeds and wheat can look alike and grow with tangled roots, premature judgment can harm what God is still nurturing. We are not able and should not judge others because our limited vision, sinful nature, and incomplete understanding of others’ circumstances, motives, wounds, and growth make us unfit to judge. Judgment creates distance and keeps us from being instruments of God’s grace. Instead, Christians are called to love, forgive, show mercy, and bear witness to the grace revealed in Jesus Christ. God alone will separate the wheat from the weeds at the final harvest. Until then, we are called to trust God’s timing, cultivate faithful lives, and proclaim grace rather than decide who belongs in God’s kingdom.
