Poking to Provoke
The author of today’s reading from the Book of Hebrews understood that the community he was writing to had faced great hardship, persecution, and even renounced their faith. The author wanted to inspire them and give them hope to sustain their faith in the midst of their trials. Join Pastor James as he focuses on how the author achieved his goals. By reminding them of their basic faith confession – that “Christ had offered all people forgiveness and wholeness through his own great sacrifice, and by telling them to spend time with one another, inspiring each other to do good things. All of this leads to the conclusion that it is our calling to go help someone else and provoke them to love and good deeds.
